  • Should the Confederate flag be removed entirely from the South Carolina statehouse grounds?
    The good people of South Carolina have already worked out a compromise on this issue, and I don't see how it's useful for us today to revisit that.
  • A recent Supreme Court decision affirmed an Arizona law allowing officers to check suspected illegal immigrants for proof of immigration status. Do you think this law is a good idea?
    I don't want to comment on an issue that is best left to the voters of Arizona.
  • Do you have an opinion on net neutrality?
    Hmm... you know, I'll have to get back to you on that one.
  • There is currently a large amount of drug violence in Mexico near the U.S. border. What would you do as President to help stabilize this situation?
    I hate to keep coming back to this, but we need a wall at the border and we need to greatly step up our enforcement efforts. Longer prison sentences and a stronger DEA will reduce drug trafficking.
  • What is your position on gay marriage?
    I'm opposed this personally. I think that, you know, different states have different opinions on this matter and it's best left to them to decide on the issue.
  • Should military women serve in combat roles?
    I will defer to military brass on this question. They should do whatever best protects American interests and the safety of our troops.
  • Do you support allowing the Bush Tax Cuts to expire for high-income households at the end of 2012?
    Our most productive citizens need further tax cuts to stimulate business confidence, investment, and further job creation.
  • We have now had 10 years to analyze the effects of the No Child Left Behind Act. Do you think it is time for a change?
    There is a danger of 'teaching to the test'. We do need some testing in place, but to do so on an annual basis is too frequent and interferes with good educational practice.
  • Michigan was one of the hardest hit states in the recent recession. Do you support higher taxes on foreign vehicles while that auto industry regroups in that state?
    Absolutely. We need to create an environment where American products can compete fairly with foreign imports.
  • The Affordable Care Act (i.e. 'Obamacare') will cap annual premiums, require minimum coverage levels, and outlaw discrimination against people with pre-existing conditions. What do you think?
    This program will be a disaster. Not only is it an unconstitutional violation of personal freedom, but it will lead to a decline in American health care and will prove to be financially impossible to maintain without socializing the health care system.
  • Do you think the Death with Dignity Act in Oregon could be a model for broader federal legislation on the issue?
    That's ridiculous. Of course not.
  • Do you have any comment to make on the performance of Ben Bernanke as Chairman of the Federal Reserve?
    Ben Bernanke has been a disaster. The Fed's expansionist monetary policy caused this recession, and the continuance of that policy has delayed our recovery.
  • Apple's use of cheap, Chinese labor via Foxconn has increased the visibility of labor conditions in that country. Do you think that China competes unfairly with the U.S. by denying basic rights to its workers?
    The U.S.-China relationship has destroyed middle class jobs for close to three decades. We need drastic changes including more protection for American manufacturing.
  • What is your opinion on the Tea Party movement?
    Conservatives operate under the "big tent" philosophy. This is just one of many valued groups within the conservative umbrella.
  • How do you feel about capitalism and the free market?
    Since the founding of our country, the free market has always been a bulwark of our prosperity.
  • What actions do you support to mitigate the effects of climate change?
    Even if climate change is real, it's impossible to determine how much of it results from human action. It's just as possible that the earth is warming of its own accord, and it makes no sense to disrupt our economy and potentially cause a depression until we have more information.
  • Who are the real job creators in this country -- hardworking American citizens or Washington bureaucrats?
    American small business, obviously. I will be their champion as President.
  • The most recent poll showed you slipping by a couple of percentage points. Are you planning on making any changes in your campaign to address this?
    The only day that matters is election day. I think the fundamental incompetence of my opponent will be obvious by that point.
  • If elected, what will you do to repeal Obamacare?
    I will offer an alternative health care reform plan which doesn't regulate private insurers to such an unrealistic extreme. I will work for malpractice reform as well, so that unnecessary litigation does not continue to drive up the cost of health care.
  • The rhetoric from some Republicans towards immigrants from Mexico has been quite harsh. Can you distance yourself from such comments?
    I take a level-headed approach to this issue. It's unfortunate that certain people have decided to use inflammatory rhetoric. Those statements don't represent my views at all.
  • What will be the overriding theme of your nomination speech at the Republican Convention?
    I will hammer on the theme that Obama has completely failed the United States as President. He has presided over the largest deficit increases and highest unemployment rate in almost a hundred years.
  • What is your guiding foreign policy philosophy?
    Non-Intervention -- Most of our foreign troop deployments are relics of the Cold War. We need to stop occupying other nations and focus on fixing our problems here at home.
  • To what extent will you speak about your religious faith (Mormonism) on the campaign trail?
    On occasion it makes sense to bring this up. Over the years I have helped out many in need through the Mormon Church, both with my time and through charity. We should make sure the American people know this about me.
  • Be perfectly honest. How do you like Barack Obama as a person?
    Barack is a decent guy. Our personal feelings for each other are not the issue. What's important are our differences of opinion on how to get the American economy moving.
  • In the most general terms, what will be your overall campaign strategy against Obama?
    We will attack Barack Obama relentlessly. He has gone back on his pledge to clean up our political system, he has destroyed hundreds of thousands of jobs in his first term, his values are out of touch with those of most Americans, and his health care reform is disastrous.
