  • Should the government be doing more to stabilize home prices?
    For the most part, I don't think that's appropriate. There are some limited areas, like relaxing restrictions on foreign ownership, where we can still help out.
  • Should the Confederate flag be removed entirely from the South Carolina statehouse grounds?
    The good people of South Carolina have already worked out a compromise on this issue, and I don't see how it's useful for us today to revisit that.
  • A recent Supreme Court decision affirmed an Arizona law allowing officers to check suspected illegal immigrants for proof of immigration status. Do you think this law is a good idea?
    I don't want to comment on an issue that is best left to the voters of Arizona.
  • Should the United States have been so quick to drop its support for Hosni Mubarak in 2011, given recent events in Egypt?
    We have allowed one of the last moderate regimes in the Middle East to be replaced by Muslim fundamentalists. This is an unconscionable betrayal of our ally Israel and will harm American security.
  • In November 2011, Ohio voters rejected a law to limit collective bargaining power for public unions. Do public sector unions such as teachers' and police unions have too much bargaining power?
    That's an issue for the states to decide. You know, the federal government does not support collective bargaining for its employees, so it's not appropriate for me to comment on a state matter.
  • Should the United States contribute funds to help stabilize the European Union's sovereign debt problems, in order to prevent a possible debt contagion?
    I trust that the European Union will find a way to resolve this issue.
  • Do you support a larger fence or even a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border to prevent illegal immigration?
    The border fence should become a border wall, with more depth to its patrols. It is simply too easy for migrants to sneak across the border right now.
  • What is your position on gay marriage?
    Under no circumstances should the sacred institution of marriage be undermined. The Defense of Marriage Act was passed specifially to address this issue.
  • Should military women serve in combat roles?
    I will defer to military brass on this question. They should do whatever best protects American interests and the safety of our troops.
  • Do you support allowing the Bush Tax Cuts to expire for high-income households at the end of 2012?
    We should keep the tax cuts as is for the foreseeable future. I don't think it's sound economics to rise taxes on this group.
  • Would it help our economy if government employment was increased? Or would this divert valuable resources from the private sector?
    It's dangerous to rely too much on government as opposed to the private sector. We shouldn't be looking at government spending and employment to resolve these issues.
  • In general, do you think bilingual education programs are a good idea?
    For new immigrants who do not yet speak English, there is a need for some bilingual programs. However, there should be strict time limits on how long students may remain enrolled.
  • The Affordable Care Act (i.e. 'Obamacare') will cap annual premiums, require minimum coverage levels, and outlaw discrimination against people with pre-existing conditions. What do you think?
    This program will be a disaster. Not only is it an unconstitutional violation of personal freedom, but it will lead to a decline in American health care and will prove to be financially impossible to maintain without socializing the health care system.
  • Do you have any comment to make on the performance of Ben Bernanke as Chairman of the Federal Reserve?
    No comment as of now. I will deliberate very carefully as to whether Bernanke should be reappointed, but for the moment it's not appropriate for politicans to address the performance of the Federal Reserve.
  • Should Angela Merkel be doing more to preserve to Euro as the European Union's common currency?
    If Merkel fails in this mission, we all will be affected negatively. I have the utmost faith that she realizes this and will act accordingly.
  • Would you consider a default on some U.S. debt obligations if the financial situation of the country continues to deteriorate?
    Under no circumstances would the United States consider that as a course of action.
  • The budget for the Department of Housing and Urban Development was cut by nearly $4 billion in 2012. Do you think subsidized housing for the poor is a good place to begin reducing the federal deficit?
    We'll have to make decisions like these at some point. It's better to do so now when we still have some control over the outcome, rather than waiting for a budget crisis to kick in.
  • What is your opinion on the Tea Party movement?
    Conservatives operate under the "big tent" philosophy. This is just one of many valued groups within the conservative umbrella.
  • Will you wear an American flag lapel on your suit as you campaign?
    It baffles me how someone could be ashamed to display the American flag. It seems a little unpatriotic to me.
  • The rhetoric from some Republicans towards immigrants from Mexico has been quite harsh. Can you distance yourself from such comments?
    I take a level-headed approach to this issue. It's unfortunate that certain people have decided to use inflammatory rhetoric. Those statements don't represent my views at all.
  • What will be the overriding theme of your nomination speech at the Republican Convention?
    I will emphasize the point that the Republican Party has a big tent. We are the party for anyone who tries to work hard and get ahead in America.
  • What is your guiding foreign policy philosophy?
    American Exceptionalism -- Providence has given America to the world as an inspiration, and we must vigorously defend the ideals of peace and freedom wherever they may be threatened.
  • Do you have any plans to offer Sarah Palin a role in your Administration?
    I don't want to promise or not promise anything at this point. We will review all qualified candidates after we win this election in November.
  • Be perfectly honest. How do you like Barack Obama as a person?
    Barack is a decent guy. Our personal feelings for each other are not the issue. What's important are our differences of opinion on how to get the American economy moving.
  • In the most general terms, what will be your overall campaign strategy against Obama?
    I will reach out to moderates and conservative Democrats and attempt to build an all-encompassing coalition. It's time that America had a true leader in charge.
