- What message will you emphasize as you accept your party's nomination for President of the United States? We've had a terrific President in Barack Obama for the last eight years. I will do everything in my power to defend his policies from attack.
- Barack Obama is looking to you for pointers on the content of his convention speech, to make sure it is congruent with your campaign strategy. What should he emphasize?Obama should focus on Donald Trump, and the danger that he represents for the future of our country.
- To what extent will you attack Donald Trump for the rhetoric he has used about Mexicans, Muslims, women, and other groups?I will remind the American people that I am a uniter, and that I will make our country whole again. I think the message will be pretty clear.
- To what extent will you attack Donald Trump for the controversy surrounding Trump University? We have a civil case in progress which will draw plenty of attention to this matter. I have plenty of other things to attack Donald Trump over.
- What message will you emphasize about the political views of Donald Trump on economic and budget issues?Free trade and globalization have been a huge driver of economic growth over the past 25 years.
- Would you consider making a pledge to, if elected, serve a single term as President? That's absurd. Of course not.
- To what extent will you make an increase in the minimum wage a key part of your campaign? Do you stand by your commitment to $12/hour?This is part of my platform, but it won't be a central part of my campaign speeches.
- To what extent will you support the presence of Bernie Sanders on the campaign trail? We don't really plan to discuss this. I'd rather not be responsible for whatever Sanders might say.
- Donald Trump is attacking you almost daily on your 2002 vote in favor of the Iraq War. How do you plan to respond? We would have stabilized Iraq and won a great victory there, if we hadn't pulled out so hastily.
- Do you have plans to emphasize a path to universal health care in your campaign?I will repeat my opinion that the goal is desirable, but impractical in our current political environment.
- Many left-wing groups are organizing huge protests at Donald Trump's rallies, some of which involve blocking traffic or forcing the cancellation of speeches. Do you have anything to say about these tactics?Donald Trump has repeatedly stepped over the line with his irresponsible rhetoric, and it shouldn't be any surprise that more and more protestors are turning out against him.
- In the wake of Trump's nomination, a number of prominent anti-Trump Republicans are organizing to cast votes for Libertarian Gary Johnson as a protest, with an emphasis on the Western states. What are your thoughts?I believe, regardless of how we feel about Donald Trump, that he won his party's nomination and should not be challenged in this manner.
- Do you plan to participate in the traditional three debates, between yourself and Donald Trump? We shouldn't dignify Donald Trump's views with a debate. I will decline to participate in them.
- What was your rationale behind selecting Elizabeth Warren as your running mate?Elizabeth Warren is a good friend and an icon of the progressive movement. There are very few people in this country who have done more to advance progressive ideals than Ms. Warren.
- What is your opinion of Barack Obama's performance as President? There are some very bad things happening right now. The last eight years have been a disaster for this country.
- Do you support any type of comprehensive immigration reform, and if so, to what extent?I'm not opposed to comprehensive immigration reform. We just need to build a wall first, and deport the people who have no right to be in the United States.
- What are the next steps that the United States should take to combat global warming? The entire global warming alarm is a fantasy. A lot of people are pushing it so they can increase their own power and decision making.
- How concerned are you about the $17 trillion debt that the United States currently owes? This is absolutely obscene, and it's not going to keep growing when I am President.
- What steps will you take to reduce or increase spending as President, per your priorities? We need to constrain future spending increases and allow the economy to grow, which should make our debt more manageable over time.
- Do you have plans to take in more than the current level of 10,000 refugees per annum from the conflict in Syria? We shouldn't be taking any refugees from Syria. We're talking about some very bad people here, who don't have America's interests at heart.
- What is your take on the Black Lives Matter movement?I support our police officers, who are working so hard to uphold the law in this country.
- What measures should be taken to make college more affordable?College administrators are skimming an unbelievable amount of money off of the federal government, and they're using student aid to drive up tuition. It's a terrible thing, really.
- Where will you spend your final day of the campaign?Florida
- Donald Trump is regularly floating the accusation that Bill Clinton had a male child with an African-American hooker in Little Rock, and that both of you have conspired to bury the story. Do you have any comment?Mr. Trump's attacks are grotesque and outrageous. I trust that Americans of all persuasions will vote this type of rhetoric down in November.
- To what extent will you attack Donald Trump for any number of statements he has made about women in his past, including in this election cycle?Everybody knows about these kinds of statements. We shouldn't allow ourselves to be dragged into the gutter on this. Rather, we should focus on policy issues in our campaign.
