Answers:

  • Where will you spend your final day of the campaign?
    Virginia and North Carolina
  • Do you have plans to emphasize a path to universal health care in your campaign?
We should focus on defending the Affordable Care Act from the attacks being levied on it.
  • What message will you emphasize as you accept your party's nomination for President of the United States?
We've had a terrific President in Barack Obama for the last eight years. I will do everything in my power to defend his policies from attack.
  • Barack Obama is looking to you for pointers on the content of his convention speech, to make sure it is congruent with your campaign strategy. What should he emphasize?
I want Obama to make a targeted appeal to the African-American community to help make my case.
  • To what extent will you attack Donald Trump for the rhetoric he has used about Mexicans, Muslims, women, and other groups?
I am going to be pretty explicit in calling out the rhetoric and demagoguery of Donald Trump throughout this election.
  • To what extent will you attack Donald Trump for the controversy surrounding Trump University?
We have a civil case in progress which will draw plenty of attention to this matter. I have plenty of other things to attack Donald Trump over.
  • What message will you emphasize about the political views of Donald Trump on economic and budget issues?
Free trade and globalization have been a huge driver of economic growth over the past 25 years.
  • Would you consider making a pledge to, if elected, serve a single term as President?
    That's absurd. Of course not.
  • To what extent will you campaign with Barack Obama, or support his presence on the campaign trail this year?
I am my own candidate. We need to minimize how much we are associated with the Obama Administration during this campaign.
  • Many left-wing groups are organizing huge protests at Donald Trump's rallies, some of which involve blocking traffic or forcing the cancellation of speeches. Do you have anything to say about these tactics?
Donald Trump has repeatedly stepped over the line with his irresponsible rhetoric, and it shouldn't be any surprise that more and more protestors are turning out against him.
  • In the wake of Trump's nomination, a number of prominent anti-Trump Republicans are organizing to cast votes for Libertarian Gary Johnson as a protest, with an emphasis on the Western states. What are your thoughts?
It isn't my place to step into these kinds of disputes. I would hope that people see Hillary Clinton as the best candidate for President when they look at the ballot.
  • Do you plan to participate in the traditional three debates, between yourself and Donald Trump?
We shouldn't dignify Donald Trump's views with a debate. I will decline to participate in them.
  • What was your rationale behind selecting Elizabeth Warren as your running mate?
Elizabeth Warren is a good friend and an icon of the progressive movement. There are very few people in this country who have done more to advance progressive ideals than Ms. Warren.
  • While giving a speech today, you suddenly stopped speaking and appeared to briefly faint. A Secret Service agent supported you, and you came to and quickly finished the speech. Do you have any comment?
It was just a headache which came on suddenly, and not any kind of long-term health issue. It's a shame that certain members of the right-wing have trafficked in fantastical conspiracy theories about my health.
  • In a hearing today, a New York judge has set the trial date for the Trump University lawsuit to August of this year. Do you have any comment?
Let's reserve judgment and wait to see how this trial turns out.
  • What is your position on gun control?
We need to hold gun stores accountable when their weapons are used in violent crime. We need extensive measures to keep guns off the streets and away from criminals.
  • Do you support the construction of a 20-foot wall along the entire length of the U.S.-Mexico border?
We're going to build the wall, and Mexico is going to pay for it.
  • What is your position on the abortion issue?
Abortion is a terrible, terrible thing. We need judges in this country that will see it that way, and end this practice once and for all.
  • Do you support the recent reopening of relations with Cuba?
The way our current President has been kowtowing to the repressive leaders of Cuba is a disgrace. It really is.
  • What are the next steps that the United States should take to combat global warming?
Even if global warming is real, I highly doubt it has anything to do with human activity.
  • Do you support the practice of fracking? What is your overall view on energy policy?
I love fracking. We need to do anything we can to support it.
  • Do you have plans to take in more than the current level of 10,000 refugees per annum from the conflict in Syria?
We'll take as many refugees as Saudi Arabia takes. And in any case, we're going to helping out with a safe zone in Syria to protect vulnerable people.
  • What measures should be taken to make college more affordable?
College administrators are skimming an unbelievable amount of money off of the federal government, and they're using student aid to drive up tuition. It's a terrible thing, really.
  • Today, in a stump speech, Donald Trump said that, "women like Hillary, they can't handle power. It makes them crazy. We have to stop it." What is your reaction?
Mr. Trump has proven over and over again how little respect he has for women in any capacity. This is yet another outrageous statement in that area.
  • To what extent will you attack Donald Trump for any number of statements he has made about women in his past, including in this election cycle?
Everybody knows about these kinds of statements. We shouldn't allow ourselves to be dragged into the gutter on this. Rather, we should focus on policy issues in our campaign.
