Answers:

  • Some involved with the space program have suggested sending astronauts to Mars, or even forming moon colonies. What is your take?
Absolutely. We need a return to the days when America dreamed big, and when children were inspired to reach for the stars.
  • A recent Supreme Court decision affirmed an Arizona law allowing officers to check suspected illegal immigrants for proof of immigration status. Do you think this law is a good idea?
The federal government has forced Arizona's hand by being too lax on enforcement for far too long.
  • Should the federal government continue to finance newer companies that attempt to develop alternative energy resources, such as solar power and electric car manufacturers?
Obviously a couple of firms went bankrupt, but that happens sometimes with new companies. We shouldn't let that distract us from the overall idea of this project. Funding should remain as is.
  • How long should U.S. troops remain in Afghanistan?
As long as it takes to ensure their transition to democracy. We cannot let the Taliban undermine us, or we may soon witness further terrorist attacks like those of 9-11.
  • What is your position on gay marriage?
I'm opposed this personally. I think that, you know, different states have different opinions on this matter and it's best left to them to decide on the issue.
  • Do you support allowing the Bush Tax Cuts to expire for high-income households at the end of 2012?
Our most productive citizens need further tax cuts to stimulate business confidence, investment, and further job creation.
  • Will you launch an air campaign against Iranian nuclear sites if diplomatic negotiations continue to yield minimal results?
This is a regime that has publicly stated its desire to 'wipe Israel off the map'. It would be suicidal to watch them develop a nuclear weapon without making some attempt to strike back.
  • What is your opinion on directing some Department of Education funding towards a school voucher program?
This is a good idea and it should be expanded.
  • The Affordable Care Act (i.e. 'Obamacare') will cap annual premiums, require minimum coverage levels, and outlaw discrimination against people with pre-existing conditions. What do you think?
This is the wrong way to reform the American health care system. We should be focusing on malpractice reform and on cutting red tape for private insurers.
  • Should the DEA prosecute medicinal marijuana growers in states where that practice has been legalized?
Absolutely. Marijuana is a dangerous controlled substance, and the federal government has a responsibility to enforce all laws that are currently on the books.
  • Should Angela Merkel be doing more to preserve to Euro as the European Union's common currency?
The Euro is destined to fail. I can hardly blame Germany for losing patience with its less fiscally scrupulous neighbors.
  • The budget for the Department of Housing and Urban Development was cut by nearly $4 billion in 2012. Do you think subsidized housing for the poor is a good place to begin reducing the federal deficit?
We'll have to make decisions like these at some point. It's better to do so now when we still have some control over the outcome, rather than waiting for a budget crisis to kick in.
  • The Supreme Court will be deciding an affirmative action case this fall involving the University of Texas. Should colleges be allowed to consider the race of an applicant when deciding whether to admit them?
Increased diversity is a valid goal for any administration. Students learn better when they are exposed to a variety of perspectives, and colleges should have a right to admit the best mix of students for their campus.
  • Federal funding for Community Health Centers has more than doubled in the past ten years to over $2 billion annually. Is this an example of out of control government spending?
There are too many mismanaged, ineffective programs like this one to even count. Someone needs to put their foot down on this issue.
  • Some theorists have suggested that the government create guaranteed jobs at the federal minimum wage, to help support the labor market. Is this something that you would consider?
This is a terrible idea. Can't you just picture twenty million employees performing make-work jobs at miniscule wages?
  • What is the best way to make college more affordable for young people?
Get the government out of higher education. Federal guarantees for student loans plus exorbitant funding for student grants combine to guarantee massive inflation in this area.
  • Is there too much regulation of the American logging industry?
Absolutely there is. There are more trees in the United States now than there were at the time of the American Revolution.
  • After episodes such as the 'flash crash' in 2010, would you support a small financial transactions tax, with the sole purpose being to target high-frequency trading systems?
I'm confident that the Financial Stability Oversight Council, created by the Dodd-Frank bill, will be effective in preventing excessive risk in the financial sector.
  • What do you think the next steps should be in regards to Medicare?
There are plenty of ways we can strengthen this system by reducing the role of government within it. For example, younger Americans should have the option to invest in personal health accounts.
  • Over half of all sexual harassment complaints filed in 2011 were dismissed -- an increase from previous years. Do you think enough is being done to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace?
I don't think this is an issue. It just goes to show how as we become more modern in our views as a society, that sexual harassment will become less of an issue in the workplace.
  • Would you nominate any Democrats to your cabinet if elected?
It's too early to say who exactly will be included in my Cabinet when I win this election. In all cases I will nominate the most qualified individual.
  • Scott Brown is currently fighting the good fight in the Massachusetts Senate race. Would you be open to offering him a position in your Administration if he falls short there?
I've known Scott Brown for many years. If that was something he'd be interested in, we are always glad to have qualified individuals working on our side.
  • What will be the overriding theme of your nomination speech at the Republican Convention?
I will address the long-term danger that liberalism has to create an ossified, uncreative society. I will also emphasize the danger to our individual and collective rights that is inherent Obama's philosophy.
  • What is your guiding foreign policy philosophy?
Pragmatism -- Our foreign policy right now is effective. We need to guide foreign nations towards democracy and open markets. Doing so will increase the world's prosperity and decrease the chance of future wars.
  • In the most general terms, what will be your overall campaign strategy against Obama?
I will emphasize the conservatism of my views and my governing philosophy. I will remind the American people that I am strong on defense and that I'm pro-life, pro-free market, pro-business, and deeply religious.
