Answers:
- What is your overall position on the Vietnam War?We need to pull our forces out of Vietnam as soon as possible. This war is a national disgrace.
- If elected, what will you do to get the student and Negro riots in this country under control? If we had peace in Vietnam and more investment in education here at home, we wouldn't be having these riots.
- What is your opinion of Lyndon Johnson's new Medicare program?I commend this piece of legislation. Already we see many Americans receiving health care who would otherwise be stricken with serious and/or fatal conditions.
- Are you satisfied with this nation's economic performance over the previous five years? The worst thing we can do right now is to sabotage the progress we have seen by continuing to squander our money on a war in Vietnam. I support a full employment economy as well -- meaning we must be vigilant against misguided attempts to raise interest rates.
- Are you satisfied with the progress of desegregation in this country since the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964?Whites and Negroes are naturally unsuited to mix together in society. The entire premise of desegregation is a farce, and my campaign is dedicated to ending this misguided policy.
- What is your opinion of the military draft that is currently in place? The draft is evil and should be abolished. We would never need it in the first place if warmongers like Johnson hadn't gotten us into this mess over in Vietnam.
- Do you believe that the newly implemented federal welfare programs will be effective?Ineffective, immoral, and illegal. Intellectuals in improperly influential offices are destroying the United States.
- Some have proposed implementing an Environmental Protection Agency at the federal level to combat industrial pollution. Would you support this as President?I believe that existing government agencies can handle the issues we have. It does upset any decent American to see rivers filled with black sludge and industrial waste.
- Do you support opening a new dialogue with our Communist adversaries, such as the Soviet Union and China? The best way to prevent future Communist aggression is not through the death of 25,000 American kids in Vietnam. I support a comprehensive summit aimed at codifying peace in the modern world.
- What is your opinion on the legality of abortion? Would you attempt to legalize or prohibit this practice at the federal level?Abortion is an evil, murderous practice. I will stand firm against any attempts to protect this barbarism at the federal level.
- Would you appoint federal judges who support the decision Engel v. Vitale outlawing mandatory school prayer? This decision was atrocious. I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that our way of life is at stake here when we don't allow our schools to teach basic moral values to our children.
- Can you comment on the newly created Head Start program? The Head Start program is another product of the out-of-touch, intellectual elite. It's a waste of money.
- If elected as President, what would you do to lower the inflation rate in this country, which currently stands at over 4%?Our inflation is being caused by all of this Great Society nonsense that Johnson passed. I will slash these programs, slash our deficits, and end our inflation problem overnight.
- What is causing the massive increase of crime in America? How will you reverse the trend? We need to improve our policing practices, prevent riots and disorder, and also address the underlying economic causes that spread dissatisfaction with the status quo.
- Did you support Lyndon Johnson's 1965 intervention in the Dominican Republic?I do support the intervention. We also need to reexamine our policies in general towards Latin America to ensure higher economic growth and more political freedom there.
- Do you support the Child Nutrition Act of 1966, which provides free breakfast and milk to qualified schoolchildren of impoverished backgrounds? Or do you believe that the program is too costly and constitutes a misuse of federal power?I don't think anyone opposes the idea of providing milk to our poor kids. My contention, however, is that the state and local governments are more in tune with their needs than some bureaucrats in Washington.
- Can we all agree that the Black Panthers are a menace to the security of the United States? The Black Panthers are a radical group of militants who are plotting the overthrow of the United States government. It is my firm position, in accordance with the Constitution, that anyone planning treason against our country should be imprisoned and possibly executed.
- Do you hope to achieve an arms control agreement with the Soviet Union during your time in the Oval Office? What conditions would you agree to?An arms control agreement with the Soviet Union isn't worth the paper that it's signed on. I won't participate in that kind of a charade.
- The unemployment rate is currently under 4%, in spite of the chaos that prevails in our nation. What will you do as president to keep unemployment low? There is far more we can do. Jobs training programs and a continued fight against discrimination will ensure that all Americans can share in the low unemployment rate.
- Do we need more spending in the War on Poverty, especially in light of the riots since 1965?The War on Poverty is a national disgrace. It is a program that steals from the productive to finance the lazy and the shiftless.
- On the weekend before the election, Lyndon Johnson's peace negotiations have collapsed with the North Vietnamese. Even worse, there are rumors that a Nixon operative has sabotaged the negotiations. Nixon swears to you on his honor that he is innocent. Will you make this an issue over the last two days of the campaign? This is bordering on treason. The American people deserve to hear about this.
- What will be the overall message of your campaign?I am campaigning on the issue of ending desegregation. That is my appeal and that is the issue I will stick to.
- What can you say to the people of the South to dampen the appeal of Richard Nixon?Richard Nixon is a California yankee and an interloper. He does not deserve the support of a decent southern man.
- What is more important to you -- competing with Nixon in the border states (to help Humphrey) or winning over Humphrey voters in the northern cities (to help Nixon)? It looks like Nixon is the favorite, so I'm going to focus most of my efforts on campaigning where he's ahead.
- If there is no majority in the electoral college, what are your goals at the bargaining table? There's not a dime's worth of difference between the Democrats and Republicans. My goal is to win this election outright.
