Lillian Gordy Carter did not lead a dull life. Between raising Jimmy Carter, she worked countless hours as a nurse, became a house mother at Auburn, joined the Peace Corps in her 60s, and advocated against segregation in her home region of the south.

Her story is just one of many covered in Explore Southern History. There are numerous other people, events, natural wonders, and historical locations featured there. Examples are:

  • The history of Fort Morgan in Gulf Shotes, Alabama
  • The Azalea Festival of Muskogee, Oklahoma
  • The siege of Augusta, Georgia in the Revolutionary War

And so on.
